The steel swimming pool tank at Abercycnon sports centre was in urgent need of refurbishment, it was heavily corroded and in a very unsightly condition. Poly Advisory were tasked with refurbishing the tank to both protect the steel structure and provide an aesthetically pleasing pool tank for the client.
Once drained a tent was erected over the poo tank to protect the building, the walls were gritblasted and the floor trackblasted to expose the steel and provide a Swedish 2.5 finish. The tank was then primed with a coat of specialist two-pack Epoxy primer. Localised repairs were carried out to the steel structure where there was excessive corrosion.
The tank, overflow channels and coping was then lined with our PASLAM epoxy lining membrane before applying topcoats to the pool tank and our PASBEAD non-slip quartz finish to the coping edge.
The end result was a massive change from the tired rusty old tank to a new inviting swimming pool much to the delight of Rhondda Cynon Taff and the bathers at this centre.
