Polystyrene Void Fill Option
Pool depth reduction using polystyrene with reinforced concrete slab.
In current times 3m deep pools are no longer required, by reducing the depth it can save money on energy costs due to reduced water volume and provide a safer more user friendly depth for bathers.
On pools where structural load is an issue it is possible to reduce the pool depth using polystyrene blocks topped with a reinforced concrete slab. Either new pipework is installed or the existing sump pipework is extended up to the new floor level. Composite GRP sump boxes are manufactured and connected onto this pipework.
High Density polystyrene block are trimmed and installed to fill the void. Steel tie bars are drilled and resin anchored to the perimeter walls and tied into steel reinforcement mesh.
A concrete slab is then poured and levelled. This must then be left to cure for approximately 4weeks prior to lining.
